If you notice that SwabCap disinfecting caps are coming off, ensure downward pressure is applied while twisting the cap on.
No. SwabCap disinfecting caps are single-use only.
SwabCap disinfecting caps are designed to disinfect the connector within 30 seconds of application. SwabCap disinfecting caps are a passive disinfection method and do not require scrubbing. Please refer to facility protocol for any additional swabbing requirements.
SwabCap disinfecting caps are made to fit on a threaded connector, not the end of the administration set. We provide SwabTip™ disinfecting cap, which is a male-luer disinfection cap, as well as dead-end caps in our SwabPackPlus™ for that purpose.
Do not hold the connector and SwabCap disinfecting cap at eye level when connecting. There is alcohol in the cap and a small amount may leak out when capping a connector because the cap is non-vented. The non-vented design of SwabCap disinfecting cap was deliberate to maintain continuous disinfection for up to 7 days if not removed.
SwabCap disinfecting caps do not indicate a specific patient population for use. Refer back to the facility policy for swabbing once cap is removed, before connecting the syringe.
